SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 31 May. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, and the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, visited the Bajamar swimming pools on Tuesday to check the state of the area after concluding the construction works of the dam and the improvements in the area bath, which is now ready for the enjoyment of residents, tourists and visitors for this summer.

For Pedro Martín, the execution of this project “responds to a historical claim of the families of Bajamar and the municipality and allows the recovery of one of the bathing areas with the most influx, thereby facilitating the tourist development of the coast.”

The president of the Island Corporation highlighted the speed of the action that has been carried out by the Cabildo as a matter of urgency and in which the established deadlines have been met.

“The area needed a complete change after registering serious damage as a result of the storms of 2012 and 2013, and thanks to the action of the Cabildo today it is ready for you to enjoy this summer,” said the president, who recalled that the The amount of the investment made has been around 2 million euros.

“The result has been frankly good, not only have all transit spaces and accessibility to bathing areas been improved, but also this work allows the guarantee that the ridge that protects the beach has been sufficiently protected with the prisms of concrete that have been placed for their protection,” he added.

For his part, the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, was satisfied with the results of the works with which “from the City Council we fulfill the commitment made with the lagoon men and women to improve the coast of the municipality, solve the problems of accessibility in the area, put an end to the inconvenience caused by the waves for the residents, and improve the image that was being given of the environment”.

“For us, the coast is an added value to the tourist potential that La Laguna has, and working on the recovery of all this environment is an example of it”, emphasized the Lagunero councilor who highlighted “the teamwork from the City Council, to through the areas of Tourism, as well as Beaches and Swimming Pools, which has been possible thanks to the support of the Cabildo, and we can say that a decade later we have complied with the residents of Bajamar”.

Specifically, the work promoted by the Island Corporation focused on securing the dam, through the construction and placement of 512 concrete blocks, weighing around 30 tons each. In addition, other works have been carried out to improve access to the sea and a grandstand has been placed so that the population can access from the dam itself to the beach and have a concrete solarium for their enjoyment.
