The City Council of La Orotava once again allocates an item of 250,000 euros to help small businesses and the self-employed in maintaining the activity of the businesses in the Villa most affected by the crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic. In this edition there are three categories of subsidies that each beneficiary can receive depending on the work activity they carry out.
The Economy and Finance area provides for an initial investment of 250,000 euros, but the call provides for the possibility of expanding it if necessary, depending on the number of applications received. The aid may be requested within a period of twenty business days from the day following the publication of the call in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP). Mayor Francisco Linares appreciates that “the Corporation as a whole has maintained consensus at all times to try to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic.”
The sectors of entertainment, floristry, jewelery and bijouterie, home and decoration, fashion, sports and footwear, vehicle sales, perfumery, bookstores, tobacconists, travel agencies and gyms that meet the conditions will receive 700 euros. The rest of the unnamed activities that have a venue will receive a grant of 500 euros. The last group includes all activities that do not have a commercial premises, as well as taxi drivers and other professionals, who may receive a grant of 300 euros.
The beneficiaries must have their fiscal domicile and their activity in La Orotava, and to carry out their activity they can have a maximum of five workers. Exceptionally, in the case of companies whose activity is hotels or restaurants, there is a maximum of 10 active workers. In addition, to receive the grant, they may not have requested the definitive cessation of their activity at the time of presentation, as well as comply with the obligation to maintain their activity for at least six months after the award of the aid.
