This week the Councilor for Security, Evelyn Alonso, assured that she was not aware of the existence of reports related to scooter accidents in recent weeks, with the exception of one that occurred in the neighborhood of La Salud, however, as this newspaper has been able to learn, at this time, 20 proceedings are open in the Attested section of the Local police related to scooter accidents. To this should be added those that are resolved by part of the service, which is when there are no injuries or there is an agreement. These figures would come to confirm the complaint of the municipal opposition that maintained the existence of multiple incidents, accusing the councilor of lack of effective regulation of these vehicles.

Taking into account that the latest data provided by the Department of Security on incidents involving scooters is dated February, and in it 16 incidents were recorded in the month of January, the twenty is completed with four other incidents from that month to date . According to these same figures, from June to December 2021, almost 300 incidents with these personal mobility vehicles were recorded.

The arrival of these vehicles to the city scooter accidents have multiplied, which has forced the Department of Security to work on a specific regulation. At the moment, specific parking spaces for scooters are being painted and an ordinance is being worked on that allows the service to be put out to tender so that a single company can provide it in the capital. It also coordinates with companies so that scooters are disconnected in pedestrian areas, and work is being done so that they also do so when they circulate on sidewalks.
