Environmental Candelaria is the Alternation Program with Youth Guarantee Employment (PFAE-GJ) carried out by the Employment and Local Development Agency this year. The project offers working students, made up of 15 unemployed young people from the municipality, the Certificate of Professionalism, Interpretation and Environmental Education.
Its cost amounts to 317,963 euros, which is subsidized by the European Social Fund, the Canarian Employment Service, the National Youth Guarantee System and the Ministry of Labor and Social Economy. The mayor, Mari Brito, appreciates these contributions because “it allows us to bet on our young people and offer useful services to the community.”
The Candelaria environmental program informs and raises awareness about the environment, interpreting its values and problems, while guiding and training the population in it, but particularly the youth and minors of the towns, neighborhood communities and students.
The work is carried out in open public spaces, cultural centers and environmental and ethnographic education through interpretive hiking, guided tours, Environmental Education workshops and environmental education and interpretation projects that include people with special needs and populations at risk.
