SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 18 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The technical work prior to the works to build the new Coastal Highway on the island of La Palma began today Monday in Tazacorte with the fencing and the preparation of a path for the passage of specialists in geotechnical measurements of the new land created by the volcanic flows.
These preliminary works begin today to meet the deadlines established by the emergency declaration of this work decreed by the Ministry of Transport, although the route of the road is not yet definitively defined at the expense of the results of the technical studies on the state of the volcanic terrain on which it will be built.
The Minister of Public Works, Transport and Housing of the Government of the Canary Islands, Sebastián Franquis, managed a few days ago to unite all the public administrations of La Palma in a consensus prior to the initial layout of the new coastal highway in the Aridane valley, an infrastructure that is considered vital to recover the mobility of the Island since it will allow the connection between the south and the north of the valley, now interrupted by the volcanic flow.
The counselor and a team of technicians meet tomorrow, Tuesday, in Los Llanos de Aridane with the representatives of banana growers, agricultural groups and the representatives of the affected platforms to explain the effects of the route initially planned for the Coastal Highway and attend to to all your claims for information about this work.
Dragados, the company contracted by the Ministry to carry out this work, has begun today to prepare a path over the wash that occupies the LP-2132 at the height of San Isidro, in Tazacorte. Up to that point, a backhoe, a loader and half a dozen operators have moved, one of whom will be specifically responsible for monitoring the gas level. The perimeter fencing of the work area has also been carried out.
During the first days, the construction company is going to create a path over the flow that allows access to the cars of the geotechnical technicians who are going to carry out the surveys and checks on the ground formed by the flow, necessary to start with guarantees the road work. During the first week, tasks of what is called ‘land compensation’ will also be carried out, that is, clearing the highest areas of the lava flow and filling in the lower ones to create a flat surface on the what power to move
