The streets around the Plaza de Nuestra Señora de la Luz, in the historic center of Guía de Isora, have been converted since last Holy Thursday into spaces open to culture, where residents and visitors can enjoy the floral creations of artists local and national, outdoor concerts, dance and live theater.
Easter, which celebrates 11 editions after the obligatory two-year break due to the pandemic, is a unique initiative in its category in Spain and its main course is the exhibition of a total of 22 floral sculptures inspired by the Passion of Christ and distributed throughout the pedestrian area. These are decorative figures of all kinds, full of colors, shapes and meanings.
In this edition, which Carlos Curbelo directs again, the Association of Carpet Makers of La Orotava participates for the first time, in addition to the students of the Gardening and Floristry cycle of the Manuel Martín González Secondary School in Guía de Isora.
Together with them, outstanding national specialists such as Juan Chamorro (Oviedo Floral Academy), María del Carmen Barreña and Juan Bautista Bosch (Valencia School of Floral Art) and Maximina Ángela, Jordi Abelló and José Martín (Spanish School of Floral Art) exhibit their works. ), among other participants.
The unique exhibition, which can be visited until this afternoon (tomorrow it will be dismantled) has also had the incentives of the monologues of Leandro González, on the defense of Pilate, or Soraya González, focused on María Magdalena, but also with contemporary dance, hand in hand with the National Prize Daniel Abreu; classical music, by the Tempus Cello Ensemble group; performances such as that of the Chamber Group of the Virgen de la Luz Band or that of Burka Teatro and the interpretation of Goodbye to Life by Salvador Ortega.
Numerous visitors (most of them tourists of different European nationalities), encouraged by the good weather, have toured the exhibition since Thursday. Today will be the last day to read some of the most famous biblical verses through the flowers that come to meet you in every corner of the Isorano historic center.
