The Cabildo de Tenerife and the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción (FLC) have reaffirmed their commitment to continue collaborating on training to improve the specialization and qualification of workers in the sector, which represents an important employment niche on the island.
This was agreed upon during the visit that the island president, Pedro Martín, and the Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, made to the Foundation’s training facilities, where they were received by the president and vice president, Óscar Izquierdo and Luis Fernández Aragón, respectively.
Pedro Martín valued the training work carried out by the entity and which is key to meeting the demand for qualified professionals demanded by the sector on the island and announced the forthcoming signing of a framework agreement with the Construction Foundation that will serve as an “umbrella” for promote the joint development of new activities with which to take advantage of the opportunity that construction represents for the labor insertion of unemployed people.
In this sense, the Minister of Employment, Socioeconomic Development and Foreign Action, Carmen Luz Baso, announced that a new call for subsidies will soon be launched, with a total budget of 2 million euros, for employment projects promoted by non-profit entities. profit, to which the Foundation may attend.
Thus, he recalled that already in 2020 the Cabildo granted a grant of 82,514 euros to the FLC for the implementation of the REHABILITA-T project Forming opportunities, with which 258 hours of training on building maintenance were given to unemployed people.
For his part, Óscar Izquierdo highlighted the collaboration with the Cabildo as a fundamental piece to move forward in the professional and technical training of workers in the construction sector.
