Outrage with the parish priest GuimarPedro Pérez, and the brothers of the Guaza neighborhood for the refusal of the Cabildo that the procession of the holy supperscheduled for this Sunday, at seven in the afternoon, invade the general highway of the South (TF-28) for half an hour from the chapel of the aforementioned nucleus to the church of Santo Domingo.
The permits have been requested since January by the parish, but until yesterday a positive response had not been obtained from the Cabildo, apparently because the five reports sent by the Güímar City Council had formal defects. The solution that has been transferred from the City Council to the brothers is for the procession to pass along the Camino Real, something that, according to David Román, brother and councilor of the PP in the Consistory, “is impossible, because the throne, with the 13 characters, it measures 4.61 meters long and 2.10 meters wide, so it cannot turn in some sections”.
On this aspect, the mayor of Ciudadanos, Raquel Díaz, reported that, “if tomorrow the inconveniences to pass through the Camino Real are not sent to Highways, the authorization for the temporary closure of the TF-28 would not come out with its original route. ”.
The procession, postponed for the last two years due to the pandemic, has always been carried out using the traffic on the TF-28, “a road that, on the other hand, is cut off for almost an entire day when, for example, the Car Climb to the Mirador”, recalled Román, who, in his stage as mayor of Culture, never found a rejection of the procession’s route, among other reasons because “Luisi Castro raised objections”, he said. It must be remembered that the Guaza neighborhood is divided by the general highway of the South. It has a hermitage dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar and a throne of the Holy Supper by the sculptor Javier Eloy Campos from Guimaraes.
