The Service for Attention to Women Victims of Violence SAMVV 1-1-2 received 3,476 calls during the first three months of this year, almost 5% more than in the same period last year and of the total calls, 17 were for cases in which the victim was girls under 15 years old, three times more than last year in which 5 calls from under 15 were registered.
During this period, the 112 had to activate the emergency devices that the ICI maintains together with all the island councils (DEMA) on 412 occasions, which meant that 61 women and 37 sons and daughters had to be taken in to flee immediately from their homes. abuser
Of the total calls to the 112 service, 61% (2,118) were emergencies (situations of imminent danger), information calls were 801 (23%) and urgency calls were 557 (16%).
Regarding the type of aggressor, 70% were the partner or ex-partner; 2.73% were children, 1.27% siblings and 1% parents, while the rest were friends, strangers or the relationship was not specified, the Canarian Government reports in a note.
Regarding the age of the victims, 46 were under 18 years of age; 831 from 18 to 35 years old; 902 were between 36 and 55 years old and 246 were women over 55 years old.
As for the type of people who called, more than half were affected and 24% were people who accidentally witnessed or detected a case of gender-based violence in their environment.
According to the type of violence, 48% were non-physical violence cases and 42% referred to physical violence, of the latter 3% were also sexual assault.
By islands, the highest volume of cases was concentrated in the capital islands, with 1,508 in Tenerife and 1,389 in Gran Canaria.
Compared to last year, the number of alerts increased on all the islands.
Thus, in El Hierro the increase was 20%; in Fuerteventura and La Gomera, 7%; in Lanzarote, 5.5%; in Gran Canaria and Tenerife 4% and in La Palma 2.6% more.
