Titsa exceeds four million users in March

The vice-president of the Cabildo, Minister of Mobility and president of Titsa, Enrique Arriaga, explained that “these data reflect the bet that the Cabildo is making to promote the use of public transport to achieve a more sustainable island and improve traffic on island roads“, and added that “if the figures for March 2022 are compared with the same month last year, Titsa registers very considerable increases in all its routes. This means that passengers increased by 41.9% compared to March 2021, going from 2,843,311 to the current 4,033,738 travelers”.

The councilor pointed out that “the long-distance lines, which join the north and south of the island, increased by 127.3% with almost 27,000 more travelers. Routes in the southern zone grew by 90.1% compared to the same month last year, with 464,767 more passengers, while those of long distance with the south rose a 71%“.

For his part, the island director of Mobility, José Alberto León, stated that Titsa has been adapting the offer as demand has grown, always with the aim of make the bus the first option to move around the island. “The bus and the tram are fundamental in the mobility of citizens and touristsso that, despite the increase in fuel prices, we are not going to increase the price of ticketsLeon assured.

The routes experience an increase in users

All of the company’s routes experienced increases in the number of customers or are close to 2019 figures.

Long-distance lines to the south and to the north recorded increases of 25.1% and 12.1%, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019. In March of this year, they used the services to or from the south of the island a total of 297,519 passengers compared to 237,906 who did so before the pandemic. To or from the north, 304,403 travelers traveled last month compared to 271,427 in 2019.

Other routes that had a very positive evolution were the intercity routes of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and those of the southern zone with 8.3% and 7.3% more than in 2019.
