El Teide, the fourth most popular national park in Europe

The Mount Teidethe fourth most popular national park in Europe. It is one of the results of a study carried out by a website specializing in tourism that has analyzed the natural environments of the continent through its reviews on Google.

More than 400 national parks have been the subject of this work to quantify the popularity of european national parks and that has concluded with a ranking of the favorites by the citizens.

It is in this classification where the Tenerife National Park obtains an outstanding position, just one step away from the podium, with nearly 31,500 reviews. The specialized website, Musement, reflects on the natural environment of Tenerife that it is a volcano that is also the highest peak in the country. “With hundreds of cones, lava flows and caves, this park is one of the most important manifestations of volcanism in the world. Among the curious rock formations that dot the Teide, it is worth mentioning the Roque Cinchado, the protagonist of the old one thousand peseta bills” , indicates the publication.

In front of Teide are the national parks of Plitvice and Krka lakes, both in Croatia, with more than 78,000 reviews and 44,600 respectively; and the Cinque Terre, in Italy, with more than 40,000.

However, the protected landscape of Tenerife is not the only Canarian environment to obtain a relevant place in this classification: Timanfaya enters the Top Ten. The protected area of Lanzarote sneaks into seventh placewith almost 26,000 reviews and very close to sixth, Vesuvius National Park.

Musement highlights Timanfaya “its capricious rock formations and the reddish and orange tones of the landscape amaze everyone who visits it” and assures that it is “a good way to discover all its charm is by following the “Route of the Volcanoes” in the area of the Mountains of Fire”

In addition to the two Canarian spaces, in the list of the 30 most popular national parks in Europe there are two other Spanish representatives: the Picos de Europa National Park (15,425 reviews) and the Sierra Nevada National Park (15,164 reviews), located in 20th and 22nd place respectively.

The countries with the highest number of parks in the classification are Italy, the United Kingdom and France, with 5 parks each; followed by Spain, with 4 parks; Poland, with three; Czech Republic and Croatia, with 2; and Portugal, Slovenia, Slovakia and Iceland, with 1.
