SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, March 25. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has shown this Friday its unanimous support for the Ukrainian people in the face of the Russian invasion, a war that has already lasted more than a month.
An institutional motion approved in the plenary session held this Friday recognizes the resistance of the Ukrainian population and establishes measures to support and reinforce the reception of Ukrainian refugees in Tenerife.
The text of the motion values ”the courage and resistance” of Ukraine and its population and presented by the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, shows its solidarity with the victims of the conflict and their families while condemns the killing of civilians and insists on an end to the conflict.
Last February, the plenary session of the Cabildo de Tenerife reached an institutional agreement condemning the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but in just one month the conflict has evolved.
In this sense, it is planned to collaborate with the entities of the third sector that serve the Ukrainian people who arrive on the island.
The motion urges the Government of Spain to reinforce the reception programs for refugees, as well as the social inclusion programs that they require throughout the national territory.
The need to promote, in the field of island powers and in coordination with the other public administrations, the measures that are necessary to respond to Ukrainian refugees in Tenerife is also included.
