Las Chafiras puts into operation the third dog park in San Miguel de Abona

The third dog park of San Miguel de Abona entered into service in Las Chafiras, integrated into the complex that houses the sports center in the area and where the BMK and skatepark circuits will also be located. The local government assures that with this equipment it responds to the neighbours’ demands. This recreation area for pets is added to those located in Llano del Camello and Guargacho-

The new dog park in Las Chafiras has three functional areas: small breed and puppy area; general recreation area and active games area. It is designed so that dogs can run and socialize, thus helping to maintain both the physical and mental health of the animal.

Arturo González, mayor of San Miguel de Abona, is particularly pleased that the Consistory responds in this way to “a great demand for these particular facilities”, by the local resident population, “used daily by many families who go to enjoy with your pet.

For his part, Julián Martín, Councilor for Public Services, highlights the location of this new dog park. Together with the large sports area that is under construction in Las Chafiras, “it will make outdoor leisure a benchmark in this lower area of the municipality.”

The work, whose cost exceeds 40,000 euros, occupies 1,600 square meters of surface and has been assumed in its entirety by the Consistory of San Miguel. It includes the enclosure of the space, several water points, specific furniture for agility, strength and obedience activities and street furniture such as benches, litter bins and information signs.

In the surroundings, the adaptation of a municipal plot for use as a public parking lot will begin shortly, which is so necessary in the area, where accessibility works for users with reduced mobility are underway. In April, the information campaign on the census and vaccination of pets and awareness of the importance of collecting droppings will begin.
