The National Police has arrested a 34-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of sixteen robberies inside vehicles, always vans parked in the Los Majuelos and Finca España neighborhoods, in La Laguna.
The man, who has a police record for similar events, was arrested about a hundred meters from two vehicles inside which, presumably, he had just stolen.
The Police had established a special device due to the increase in reports of vehicle theft in some neighborhoods of La Laguna.
The thefts were committed mainly at night, shattering the right front window of the vehicle, which was always a van, and the perpetrator took any valuables found inside.
The agents that formed the device observed on March 9 that an individual wearing gloves and dark clothing hid between parked cars when he saw the police vehicle.
A hundred meters from that place, two vans were located with a fractured front window and whose interior was scrambled.
The suspect was arrested and a purse, a fanny pack and other items were seized, which were recognized by the owner of one of the stolen vehicles.
The subsequent investigation allowed the detainee to be linked to a total of sixteen robberies.
