The mayor criticizes the “obsession” campaign of the PSOE for damaging the capital and makes Patricia Hernández ugly for leaving the place
SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, May 25. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and candidate for re-election for the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), José Manuel Bermúdez, announced this Thursday that he has ordered the municipal legal services to appear in the legal case opened in a court in the capital against the resigned number two of the PSOE electoral list, José Ángel Martín, for allegedly assaulting a manager of the San José Tablero soccer team.
In statements to journalists, he has commented that he is “forced” to defend the interests of the city and also because of the presence of minors on the soccer field when the events occurred — there was a training session for the insular women’s team — and its “possible damage consequences”.
Bermúdez has lamented that the city has been “making news throughout the country” all day for a “reprehensible act” and that it has also occurred in a municipal facility, with councilors involved and a person who has ended up hospitalized.
The mayor has pointed out that he has spoken with the victim’s relatives on several occasions to make himself available for whatever he needs and has shown his desire for a “speedy recovery” — he has a triple fracture of the tibia, fibula and ankle — .
Bermúdez has condemned the events and vindicated the “good name of this blessed city”, emphasizing that “these behaviors do not represent” Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Along these lines, he has pointed out that it is not an incident in the area of the councilor’s private life but a “very serious event” that occurred during an electoral visit to a municipal facility “with girls present” and as part of an “aggressive campaign” carried out carried out by the socialist candidate, Patricia Hernández, to “damage the image” of the municipality.
The councilor has pointed out that the explanations offered by Hernández “are insufficient” and has also presented an account of the facts -where he affirms that there were provocations involved- “that do not correspond to reality” according to what neighbors and witnesses. “I have no doubt of his credibility,” he commented.
“SANTA CRUZ DOES NOT DESERVE THIS”
He has also insisted that Hernández “has been wrong” because “it has taken him too many hours to explain” and also left the place “without being interested in the state” of the affected person and “being aware of what had just happened” –Hernández has claimed that she was already away from the facilities when the alleged aggression occurred–.
Along these lines, he has commented that he even “left his team and colleagues behind” and his explanations “are not credible.”
Bermúdez has linked the events to the “strategy of obsession and opposition” exercised in recent years by Patricia Hernández and has regretted that the PSOE ends its campaign in this “unfortunate way.” “Santa Cruz does not deserve this,” she added.
He has also made Hernández ugly that “he is not interested in an injured person” and has given as an opposite example that if a resident of Santa Cruz de Tenerife were injured on the ground “he would never leave” the facility.
“I would be there and I would even accompany him to the hospital, I can guarantee it, let’s be people first and then politicians, I prefer to act as a person, with humanity,” he commented, reproaching Hernández for not having been “at the level of the city” because leaves the area “and does not even call” to find out the condition of the victim — he did it this Thursday morning–.
