All accesses to Teide closed due to the forecast of ice and snow on the road


The Cabildo de Tenerife has announced that this Monday, starting at 5:00 p.m., the access roads to Teide will be closed due to the forecast that there will be ice and snow on the road. These are the TF-24 tracks, at the junction with the TF-523 (Arafo), the TF-21, at Ramón Caminero, and the TF-21 at the Cable Car.

The Cabildo has indicated that in the event of the appearance of ice sheets before that time, the cut of the accesses will be advanced. The island of Tenerife is being affected this Monday by the Celia storm, which is leaving numerous incidents on all the islands, diverted and canceled flights in Tenerife North and which has cost the lives of six people, who were dragged by the waves.

As indicated by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), in Izaña (Teide) temperatures have fallen to -2.2ºC and wind gusts of up to 150 kilometers per hour are being recorded.

The islands remain this Monday and Tuesday in a yellow and orange warning due to wind, waves and snow above 1,500 meters in Tenerife and La Palma.
