The Cabildo de Tenerife has canceled the contract with its tourist promotion office in Moscow and has suspended all promotional actions, including the island’s participation in the MITT tourism fair in Moscowwhich will be held from March 15 to 17.
The insular president, Pedro Martín, has reported that Tenerife Tourism processes the termination of the contract it has with the office that is in charge of the tourist representation and intermediation of the island in the Russian market, located in Moscowand has indicated that since last week the necessary procedures were initiated to cancel all the promotion of Tenerife in the country.
What’s more, Tenerife has canceled its participation in the MITT Fair in Moscow, which is scheduled to be held soon, between March 15 and 17.
“It is an office from which the promotion of the island in Russia is carried out, which has been open for years and with which we have initiated the pertinent steps a few days ago to terminate the contract, in a country that is attacking another neighboring country and destabilizing all of Europe,” adds Martín in an informative note.
The Cabildo has already communicated this decision to the island’s tourism sector, indicating that in addition to the current war situation, and the alignment with the condemnation actions that are being carried out in this sense in the international arena, is added the material incapacity of carry out any promotional activity in the area, with the aggravating circumstance of the closure of the airspace and the impossibility, moreover, of carrying out any economic transaction in Russia.
On the other hand, the president informs that the Cabildo has contacted a group of Ukrainian people living in Tenerife to gather information and learn about the situation of those who may be temporarily residing on the island, in order to find out their needs.
“We are waiting for the indications of the Government of Spain and at its disposal to collaborate in whatever is required”, adds Martín.
