The plenary of City Hall of Santa Cruz yesterday approved a budget modification of 1.1 million for the Palmetum. The purpose of this modification is to start the plan presented last August with which the Botanical Garden is going to be completed, providing the space with leisure and restoration areas, new viewpoints, or incorporating new species. The plan has a total budget of eight million distributed until 2026. “We are talking about the first million to convert the Palmetum in a leisure center of reference in Santa Cruz”, pointed out the delegate councilor of the Development Society, Alfonso Cabello.
This money, according to the details of the file approved yesterday, is divided into 121,000 euros for the waterproofing of the Cascada del Caribe; another 118,000 are earmarked for drafting the project for the restaurant area and public space in the Palmetum car park; 329.00 more are dedicated to the execution of the work of the HIDE project, lakes and road; while the execution of the thermophilic forest path project takes another 266,000 euros.
The rest of the budget is divided into various works of waterproofing and repair of wooden bridges, bathrooms or cleaning of the stairs and access walkway.
