The Council of Tenerife has reported that the two entrances to the Mount Teide that had been closed this Sunday morning, by La Orotava and La Esperanza, due to the presence of ice and snow on the road, have remained open after they could have been cleared.
The Town Hall of Tenerife had proceeded this Sunday to cut the accesses to the Teide National Park by La Orotava (TF-21) and La Esperanza (TF-24) due to the presence of snow and ice sheets on the road.
As reported by the Island Corporation on its official Twitter account, the access road to Teide through La Orotava (TF-21) was closed from kilometer 16 to kilometer 43 (La Caldera). For its part, the access road to the National Park through La Esperanza (TF-24) was closed to traffic from kilometer point 24 to 42, in this case due to ice sheets on the road.
Highway personnel from the Cabildo de Tenerife have been working in the area together with teams from the Red Cross, the National Park, the Civil Guard, the Security area of the Cabildo and members of the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium.
