SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 14th August (EUROPA PRESS) –
An increase of 40% in the funds assigned to municipal fairs has been approved by the Tenerife Island Council. This decision will result in the initial budget of 50,000 euros being raised by 20,000 euros, bringing the total to 70,000 euros.
Efraín Medina, the Employment Councillor, highlighted the aim of boosting and supporting the promotion of local artisanal products: “Our goal is to reach every municipality on the island, allowing all residents to discover and purchase the goods crafted by our local artisans.”
The craft fairs take place in La Matanza, El Tanque, Guide de Isora, La Victoria, Garachico, Santa Ursula, Buenavista del Norte, Los Silos, El Sauzal, Candelaria, Adeje and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
“Craftsmanship is ingrained in our authentic identity and heritage. Hence, I will soon convene a meeting with all craft and heritage authorities across the island to encourage the organization of trade fairs and artisan gatherings in various formats, serving as platforms to showcase our innovative and traditional artisanal products. Initiatives are in progress to enhance the value of our products and crafts,” stated the councillor.
