The mayor of Arafo, Juan Ramón Martín, and Rosa Dávila, autonomous deputy of the Canarian Coalition, ask the regional government to finance and build the municipal sports center located in an area adjoining the Andrés Orozco Compulsory Education Center (CEO). They claim “a public, modern and functional infrastructure, covered and that can be used for the practice of various sports disciplines, also during the afternoon and on weekends.”
Juan Ramón Martín stressed that “the construction of the new sports center must entail the bypass of the educational center” of the urban area of the municipality of Arafo.
Rosa Dávila announced that she will raise Arafo’s claim to the Parliament of the Canary Islands. The Secretary of Organization of CC de Tenerife also emphasized that the Government of Ángel Víctor Torres and his Minister of Education, Manuela Armas, “cannot look the other way and abandon this need for the municipality of Arafo.” In her opinion, “a municipality with more than 6,000 inhabitants cannot be without a sports infrastructure such as a sports center.”
Another of the needs analyzed by both the mayor and the deputy was the construction of a new Municipal Library and converting the current toy library into the future Youth House, a work for which the City Council has the project, for whose execution it lacks funding. . For this reason, Martín and Dávila demand that the regional executive provide the municipality with this new facility “vital for students and young people.”
