The Tacoronte City Council begins this month the tests of the opposition contest to fill seven new Local Police positions, which has a total of 343 participants. Of the total number of people presented, who were 425, 82 have been excluded due to different defects in the registration procedure.
The physical tests will be held on February 14, 15, 16 and 17 in various facilities spread over the island of Tenerife. Those applicants who pass these exercises and the subsequent theory and competition phase with the best grades will obtain a place. Before joining, they must also complete their training for three months at the Canarian Security Academy.
This call tries to correct the staff shortage of the Local Police that Tacoronte has suffered “for several decades”, according to the Councilor for Security and Local Police, Julio Navarro (PSOE), who adds that “with this call we will not be able to supply all personnel needs, but we will hold new oppositions throughout 2022 with the intention of continuing to expand the ratio of agents ».
Tacoronte currently has 13 agents, a figure that, according to Navarro, “is completely insufficient.” In his opinion, “this situation has been reached because in the last mandates neither the vacancies due to transfer nor the retirements have been covered.” Apart from these seven new agents, the Tacorontero Consistory aspires to create around ten more places this year.
The mayor of Tacoronte, José Daniel Díaz (NC), indicates that these selective tests “demonstrate the clear commitment of this government group to security, and our conviction that the presence of the Local Police in our streets is necessary to attend to the population. This call will mean a real renewal of the squad, with a new young team of seven people who will be joined by those who can be incorporated through the future call of the Fecam».
