Puerto de la Cruz demands a Palace of Justice for the municipalities of northern Tenerife

The City Council of Puerto de la Cruz has asked the Government of the Canary Islands to unify the judicial districts of Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava, as requested by the Boards of Judges of both judicial bodies, and to build a Palace of Justice that host your headquarters.

The municipal corporation has approved a motion with this request and has argued in a note this Tuesday that it asks the Canarian Government to start working without delay to seek a substantial improvement in the delivery of justice in the six municipalities in the north of Tenerife from La Matanza de Acentejo to San Juan de la Rambla.

For the City Council of Puerto de la Cruz, it is above all that citizens who resort to judicial protection can have “safety, efficiency and effectiveness in the development of this activity”.

For this reason, it asks the Government of the Canary Islands to acquire land to build a Palace of Justice “modern, with a vision of the future, adapted” to current times, which houses the necessary number of civil and criminal Courts, as well as an exclusive Court of gender violence.

It is also proposed that the possible extensions of future courts be considered with all the necessary material and human resources and means, as well as the permanent affiliation of the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, the Common Service of Notifications and Seizures, the Office of the Institute of Legal Medicine, Prosecutors’ Chambers, lawyers and translators.

This building must have, according to the planning and the necessary urban planning, easy access and large parking areas, he adds.

The City Council of Puerto de la Cruz makes itself available to the Ministry of Justice of the Government of the Canary Islands to study the possible locations within the municipal area of the future Palace of Justice of the Valley as the headquarters of the new judicial party, in addition to agreeing on the transition processes necessary for this purpose.
