The residents of Ten-Bel continue to have electricity with the use of generators

The more than 4,000 inhabitants of Te-Bel continue to have electricity supply thanks to the use of generators. The situation remains since last December 30 they rented and activated this equipment after the Endesa company cut off the electricity for non-payment. After 24 days from the commissioning of these machines, some of the communities that make up this residential and tourist complex have had to take measures to continue having it.

One of the cases affects the Eureka community, which approved a levy for which each apartment has to pay 300 euros per month. He also proceeded to replace the generator to reduce both his rent and fuel consumption, so that the weekly bill is reduced from more than 4,000 euros in the first weeks to around 3,000. In this framework, and “given the uncertainty, we approve that each apartment will have a space on the community roof to install solar panels».

The problem stems from the fact that the control of the electricity service is centralized in the property of the company Ten Bel Turismo SL, which derives the cost of consumption to the communities based on the expense recorded by each one. The company itself admits the existence of an almost systematic debt with the electricity company Endesa due to the fact that most of the communities do not pay their billing, it justifies. The company announced that it is negotiating the payment and its subsequent impact on the neighbors.

They defend that the law makes it impossible to cut off the light because it affects people in vulnerable situations

From Eureka it is emphasized that the supply cut “was carried out without prior notice, contrary to the provisions of the decree law that prohibits it until February 28, 2022, when there are vulnerable people in the homes.” Luca Mastrantonio, a local resident, assures that residents with a disability greater than 33%, families with children under 16 years of age and people who receive the social bonus due to the pandemic situation reside in said urbanization. That is, they meet the conditions that would make it impossible to cut off the electricity supply according to current regulations, he understands.

Those affected held a meeting with the acting mayor, Raquel García, who conveyed to them the interest of the municipal government in mediating with the electricity company for the restoration of service. Something that the company Ten Bel Turismo SL hopes will happen shortly, while trying to advance in another objective, that of individualizing the ownership of the meters by communities in order to avoid reproducing the current problem of cutting off the supply by non-payment, a measure that affects those who are up to date in the payment of electricity consumption.

Ten-Bel has 2,005 apartments in which about 1,500 families reside.
