The internal regime, supervision and control directorate will have among its functions the administrative and legal direction of the body, the management of the Official Register of ZEC Entities, the coordination with the other administrations involved or the direction of the inspection and control functions of the Entities ZEC. The ZEC Entities Promotion and Services Department, for its part, will be responsible for directing and coordinating the execution of the organization’s promotional activity, as well as the care and provision of services for the implementation of ZEC entities in the Canary Islands.
The approved regulation also provides for the creation of an inspection, control and data unit that seeks to modernize the activity of the Consortium by incorporating big data methodology and market intelligence both in its promotional activities for the investment attraction as well as inspection activities of registered companies. This new structure is part of the objective of modernizing the Consortium that has been proposed by the new ZEC government team chaired by Paul Hernandez.
The president of the ZEC pointed out in his inauguration that the ZEC had to face the normative update, the specialization of promotion and modernization of the organization “digitalizing and modernizing the administration of the Consortium, optimizing its bodies and integrating the necessary continuous analysis of extensive, exact data and the use of data intelligence with the rest of the body involved to make reliable, effective and efficient decisions in that objective of sustainable development of the Canarian economy and generation of employment”.
The new directorates, of a regional nature, also pursue the establishment of common criteria and better coordination with the rest of the administrations involved, in order to generate greater efficiency and legal certainty for the investor. The deep reorganization of the Consortium provides for the incorporation of a new director of the internal regime, supervision and control through a public call under criteria of competition, transparency and publicity that will take place in the coming months.
This incorporation, along with three new technicians to incorporate between 2022 and 2023, and the new structure will allow the Consortium to be strengthened to face the task of attracting investment, which is so important for the Canarian economy at a time like the present.
