On the occasion of the celebration of the International Tourism Fair -FITUR-, the Mayor of the City Council of Santiago del Teide, Emilio Navarro, as well as the Councilor for Tourism, Luz Goretti Gorrín, presented the new ‘Interactive Virtual Viewpoint’ -which has counted on the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands through its subsidy line destined to the improvement, modernization and digitization of tourist destinations-, through which you can enjoy the innumerable tourist and heritage attractions that Santiago del Teide has, through the application of the use of ICT and which, in turn, will have an impact on a more enriching and immersive experience of Santiago del Teide, positioning itself as a Smart Tourist Destination.
During said appearance, which took place in the Central Patio of the City Hall and which included the virtual intervention of the Manager of the company Dielmo 3D -in charge of creating the aforementioned virtual tool-, all the details of this new intelligent tool were shown, based on the ‘EcoTur’ project and which has been synchronized with the ‘Inventrip’ platform -which the municipality of Santiago del Teide already had-, turning it into a tool that provides greater accessibility to knowledge of the municipality’s tourism resources – patrimonial, cultural, natural, etc.-.
For the development of this Tourist Viewpoint, in the words of José Carlos García -manager of the company in charge of its creation-: “a robot is used that takes overlapping high-resolution photographs to later unify all the images in a single view panoramic, which in turn is made up of more than a thousand images with which control points are sought between them in order to link them and thus be able to provide this enriching and interactive experience for visitors to Santiago del Teide”.
According to the Mayor of the municipality, Emilio Navarro, “without a doubt, this presentation of the new Interactive Virtual Viewpoint comes to reinforce our commitment to continue advancing in tourism promotion, having sustainability, mobility and efficiency as a fundamental axis, whose excellence and quality of the tourism product will have an impact on the improvement of the destination as well as on the creation of new opportunities and the increase in well-being social of our population; Without a doubt, aspects that we have been betting on since 2016 when we became the first municipality to install intelligent pedestrian signage to provide better sustainable and urban mobility for our visitors, as well as improve tourism promotion at the destination.”
For her part, the Councilor for Tourism, Luz Goretti Gorrín, wanted to add that “through the development of the projects that we have been implementing for tourism promotion through the application of ICT, we have managed to visualize the real scope of its impact with the consequent revaluation of Santiago del Teide as a competitive tourist destination, managing to capture those tourist profiles increasingly committed to sustainability and who really want to know Santiago del Teide in depth – from the natural, heritage, cultural, historical, etc. hence our commitment to wanting to provide them with the necessary tools to generate the best of experiences when they visit us”.
