The Ministry of Health informs that the pharmacies of the Canary Islands 16,790 COVID-19 vaccination certificates have been issued since last January 10 Authorize these establishments to issue this document, after the collaboration agreement with the Official Associations of Pharmacists of the provinces of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The measure, which makes it easier for people living in the Canary Islands to access this document, relieves the workload of health centers that had been processing the certificates of patients and users who could not access the app micertificadocovid.com or to the website set up by the Canary Islands Health Service for this purpose.
This initiative is added to other start-ups in the last week to decongest Primary Care activity; such as, among others, the creation of a circuit different from that of Primary Care to notify covid cases as a notifiable disease, which is now assumed by Public Health or the automation of registrations and cancellations of covid cases, activities that generate administrative work and reduces the time needed to care for patients with any pathology in health centers.
Covid certificates issued in pharmacies
Of the total certificates issued, 7,691 have been processed in pharmacy offices in the province of Las Palmas and 9,099 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. On the first day of implementation of the measure alone, 2,945 certificates were issued, of which 1,309 corresponded to pharmacy offices in the province of Las Palmas and 1,636 to those in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Obtaining the certificate
People interested in obtaining this document at pharmacies, which will have no cost, must present their ID and, in the event of requesting the COVID-19 certificate from a third party, it will be necessary to show the identification document of the person requesting it to register who makes the request
For now, pharmacies will only issue certificates for residents, a fact that they will verify through the Canarian Health Card. Residents of other autonomous communities who want to access the certificate will have to do so through digital services or by going to health centers. The Ministry of Health thanks the official associations of Pharmacists of both provinces for their good disposition for the collaboration requested at all times.
