The councilor of the Popular Party (PP) in the Puerto de la Cruz City Council Pedro González asked yesterday in the municipal plenary session that the additional cost of public lighting for these parties be provided in a detailed manner, which according to him, is around 50,000 euros that are added to the 21,000 euros outstanding from the previous year. “In addition, from the conversations held with the different neighborhoods, we want to see if this money can be understood in the improvement of lighting in some of them because when it was inaugurated in some, it was said that it was going to be supplemented and yet they have remained the same” .
Therefore, González waited to know all the details to “make a political assessment of what the government group presented that they were going to do in the neighborhoods and what happens in some streets in the old town.”
The Councilor for Community Welfare, Flora Perera, denied that the added cost amounted to this amount and clarified that it was not only the neighborhoods but also streets of the municipality that were not included in the contract. “All the neighborhoods have been illuminated and all the streets will be specified for him to later make the political assessment he wants,” he said.
The mayor also made reference to the media impact that Christmas lighting has had in the tourist city.
For her part, the spokesperson for the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), Sandra Rodríguez, also asked about the price that the City Council had paid for the poinsettias and the criteria to see where they were placed.
