The La Orotava City Council for the second consecutive year dispenses with the traditional Cavalcade of the Magi through the historic center and replaces it with the Paseo Real in all the neighborhoods of the municipality. This was decided yesterday by the local government in application of the restrictions due to the pandemic of the covid-19 and after Tenerife went to level 3 on Saturday when the number of infections on the island skyrocketed (708 yesterday), which limits family gatherings to six people or imposes restrictions on venues and activities.
The mayor of Orotava, Francisco Linares (CC), will receive Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar first thing in the morning on January 5 (8:00 a.m.), at the Town Hall itself, so that from there they will move to the Doña Chana Cultural Park and prepare to start a journey through all the neighborhoods of the town that will take the Three Wise Men and their entourage all day. These days the different scheduled times of the tour will be announced on social networks. Unlike the Cabalgata, on the Paseo Real Meetings around the entourage or approaching the Magi will not be allowed, They will go in a float accompanied by pages and cartoon characters.
The departure will be around 9:00 am from the Doña Chana Cultural Park to go to the areas of Las Dehesas and Las Cuevas. The Paseo Real will continue towards Florida, Pino Alto, Pinolere, Bebedero Alto, Aguamansa, Cañeño, Camino Chasna, Benijos, Colombo, Barroso, Los Pinos, Camino Polo, La Piedad, Opuntia, La Vera, El Mayorazgo, San Miguel, Las Candias, La Luz, La Perdoma, San Antonio, La Fariña, Lercaro, Carmenaty and the old town. Between the 28th and the 4th of January, the special pages of the Magi from the East will travel to different parts of the municipality to collect the letters from the children.. The villera corporation asks for the collaboration of all citizens so that the activity is carried out in a responsible manner and complying with the preventive measures in force due to the high rate of infections by covid-19. This is how we appeal to civic responsibility.
