SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Dec 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The eruptive activity of the La Palma volcano has decreased this Tuesday until “practically disappearing” and has remained in this state until today, in which only a “little and weak” fumarolic activity is visible.
The technical director of Pevolca, Miguel Ángel Morcuende, reported at a press conference that this situation was preceded by an important explosive phase that occurred yesterday, between 5:45 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., with the ejection of ashes and the fall of bombs, especially towards the north flank of the emergency.
Regarding the evolution of the runoffs, Miguel Ángel Morcuende has indicated that today the flow of lavas from the western base of the cone continues from leaks, mainly volcanic tubes, although with a “very diminished” flow compared to the day of Yesterday. He also added that in the lava delta in the Las Hoyas area, the wash runs over previous lavas without new inputs from the sea.
