The Villa of La Orotava began this Friday, November 26, 2021, the acts of Christmas with the lighting of the street lighting and the opening of the life-size nativity scene, which this year has been moved to the square of the kiosk for renovations. The festivities are loaded with novelties This year, among the novelties such as a Christmas train that will travel through the main streets of the Open Commercial Zone; a skating rink in the Franchy Alfaro square, from December 27 to January 7, and children’s attractions in the Plaza del V Centenario until January 9.
The departure of the train will be from El Mayorazgo, next to the Telesforo Bravo Visitor Center, and the stops will be at Avenida Iberoamericana, Emilio Luque Moreno, Plaza de la Paz, Puente Escultor Estévez and Calle Herminia Mesa Bello, in the Lercaro urbanization. In addition, in the façade of the Town Hall can be enjoyed on Sundays 12 and 19 December, with three shows each afternoon-night, of a sound and light show that tells a Christmas story.
In la House of Culture of San Agustín The Christmas Market will be located until December 12. There are about fifteen stalls in wooden houses offering Christmas decorations, nativity scenes, Christmas pastries, toys, sweets, flowers and many other Christmas-related items.
The Teobaldo Power Auditorium It will host an important cultural agenda with multiple events, concerts, presentations and festivals throughout Christmas. And on January 5, a big day for children and adults, their Majesties the Three Wise Men will be received at the Villa. However, depending on the sanitary conditions of the moment, there are two options. If feasible, there would be the traditional collection of letters in San Juan and the parade of the Kings with their respective courts through the streets of the urban center, to conclude in the Plaza de la Constitución. The establishments will also offer one-hour free parking tickets in the two car parks in the downtown area, thanks to the collaboration of the city council to help the sector.
Musical thread, lighting and nativity scene
From this Friday, November 26 until January 6, the Christmas music thread will work during business hours. The lighting shines in the helmet and the neighborhoods, and the life-size nativity scene, with more than 300 pieces, can be visited in the square of the kiosk from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday.
