The General Directorate of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islandsbased on the prediction of Meteorology Statal Agency (Aemet) and/or from other sources, and in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of Canary Islands by Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA) has decreed the situation of wind alert that can reach up to 90 kilometers per hour on the islands of The Palm, La Gomera, Tenerife and Gran Canaria.
Specifically, and according to the Government of the Canary Islands, the alert It will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. mainly affecting cumbres and west of La Palma, to La Gomera as a whole, to the south and northwest of Tenerife, as well as to cumbres, east and west of Gran Canaria.
In fact, at 5:30 a.m. this Monday, 105 kilometers per hour in El Paso (La Palma) and 103 at 1.30 in the Village of San Nicolás (Gran Canaria) according to AEMET. In addition, gusts of 97 kilometers were recorded in Arure, 95 in Vallehermoso and 91 in San Sebastián de La Gomera.
The alert is activated before the episode of wind that is expected moderate to strong northeastwith the probability of occasional very strong gusts that can reach 90 kilometers per hour.
The rest of the archipelago is in a pre-alert situation due to strong winds from the northeast componentwith maximum gusts that can reach 70-80 kilometers per hour, which will be especially noticeable on the slopes facing the northwest and southeast of the western islands and Gran Canaria, mainly in high areas of the northwest.
