Garachico will be officially proclaimed one of the most beautiful towns in Spain this Friday, November 12. The municipality entered the network in December 2020 and collected the award last May at FITUR. Now it is the turn to uncover the sign that visitors will see at the entrance of the town.
To this end, the Town Hall and Port has organized a weekend full of activity and solidarity with the island of La Palma to make the entry of the municipality into this national network official. Garachico will officially be one of the most beautiful towns in Spain this Friday, November 12, in the middle of an institutional act that will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the San Francisco roundabout. The president of the national network Francisco Mestre will be present.
Beyond the uncovering of the poster, you will enjoy the music of Érika Toledo and Rosmén Rodríguez, from the violin group of the Daute-Isla Baja Regional School of Music, AC Ben-Gara, Arturo Castillo and Mar Gutiérrez and Dani González. Entry will be limited until full capacity is reached and measures will be taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The five Canarian municipalities in the network (Garachico, Agulo, Teguise, Tejeda and Betancuria) have wanted to have a gesture of solidarity with La Palma. Thus, a commemorative t-shirt has been designed that will be put on sale during the weekend. Its price is 10 euros and all the proceeds will go entirely to those affected by the La Palma volcano. There will be a collaboration point to acquire it throughout the weekend.
Activity for everyone
The weekend will continue with more activity. On the morning of Saturday, November 13, there will be children’s activities carried out by the La Maresía collective. The smallest and smallest of the midlands of Garachico will be able to travel to the town in the bus service that the consistory has arranged.
In addition, you can enjoy ping-pong thanks to CD Prakan, Canarian ball by RCD Gara veterans and maintenance classes from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. promoted by the Garachica town hall (also on the morning of Sunday, 14) . Saturday’s day will end with the presentation of the book Garachico: graphic vision of his past by Carlos Acosta at 7.30 pm at Casa de Piedra (limited capacity).
Sunday 14 will be marked by the solidarity walk between the neighborhoods of Genovés and San Juan del Reparo. The departure will be in the Plaza de Genovés at 11.30 am. Previously, the children who attend will write messages of support to La Palma that will be read later.
For a better world: Erre que erre
On the other hand, Garachico will enjoy on Friday the 12th and Saturday the 13th of November the premiere of the Erre que erre festival. It is a great showcase for signature rock and rap on the Canarian scene. It will be on the esplanade of the old Garachiquense dock.
On Friday 12, starting at 8.30 pm, you will be able to enjoy the music of Sito Morales, Dudu Dog & Dj Yakal, Kumar Kislo duet and Beatriz Martín Consort. On Saturday the 13th, at the same time, Tony Lacalle Dj, Alberto Saura trio, Reina Omega and La Cangreja will be on stage.
The ticket is a donation of 2 euros that will go to those affected by the La Palma volcano. In addition, the event will follow measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
