In statements to Radio Club Tenerife collected by Europa Press, he pointed out that his presence on the island has reminded him of a fire that he experienced when he was mayor of Gandía. “These are moments of tragedy, drama and of sustaining the pain of so many families and neighbors. I sympathize and send them all my affection,” he said.
Morant stated that the “heart” of the Government is with the palm trees, “but so is our mind, our hands and all our resources,” highlighting the union and collaboration demonstrated by all administrations to help those affected.

Regarding the closure of the Canary Islands Astrophysics Institute (IAC) during the last month due to the ash emitted by the volcano, the minister pointed out that there is a stop in activity but that the center has a “very high performance.” “Right now we are facing an emergency and what we have had to do is protect the instruments of the telescope. When this is over, everything will open again and we will recover,” he added.
