SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Maritime Rescue has intercepted this Thursday a boat in which 60 migrants were traveling to the Canary Islands, according to sources from the public body.
At around 12 noon, the Maritime Rescue Control Center in Tenerife received a warning from the Civil Guard after detecting a suspicious echo some 8 miles south of the island of El Hierro.
The Control Center mobilized the rescued Adhara, who finally located the cayuco about 5 miles from La Restinga, for which she accompanied the boat to the port.
Sixty men of sub-Saharan origin traveled in the boat and they have been assisted on the ground by personnel from the Red Cross and the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).
