SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct 8 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, said this Friday that the draft of the central government’s housing law is a “success” and a “great step” to begin to limit rental prices.
In a statement released by the Executive, it has valued the brave attitude of the national bipartisan because it goes in the direction of achieving “social justice”, while providing the autonomous communities with a legislative framework to intervene in the real estate subsector.
“What cannot be done is to do nothing,” he stressed, indicating that in the case of the Canary Islands, for example, there is a “tremendous tension” in prices in tourist areas and capital cities, with “very high prices” and that hinder access to housing for workers in the service sector.
In addition, he has asked opponents of the law to “learn” the content and “make contributions” during the parliamentary process to enrich it.
