The PSOE of Santa Cruz announced yesterday that it is going to request an extraordinary plenary session on the municipal escort service, which up to now has cost the municipal coffers 248,000 euros, “which means that, between now and the end of the year, we are talking about more than half a million euros ”, pointed out the socialist mayor Florentino Guzmán.

The former Security Councilor requested the appearance of Evelyn Alonso, who now holds that responsibility, to explain the reasons why, a year and a half after joining the Government team, she still has an escort service that According to Guzmán, it is what has doubled the cost of this service. Guzmán denounced that these agents, despite working fewer hours than an agent on normal duty, charge more, accusing Alonso of using these agents to “carry his bags.”

The Councilor for Security insisted that there is a report that supports the maintenance of the escort. “I have received insults on the street, people who have approached my house … What I ask of you is respect for me, but also for the professionals whom you denigrate saying that their job is to take my bags.” He added that “I have not requested this service, and if it is decided that I do not have to bring it, I will stop doing it.” In addition, Alonso explained that there is a complaint that has led to a trial and that, when the result is known, he understands that his situation will be reassessed. This complaint occurred once the National Police identified three people who had threatened the councilor through social networks, with direct attacks on her and her son, messages in which they wished their death.

Regarding the security report, former mayor Patricia Hernández pointed out that “in its first paragraph it says that there is no risk on the street and, despite this, it continues to carry an escort.” The same report, as this medium was able to verify, then affirms that, “in the tracking of social networks, we have detected that, after July 13, the date of the motion of censure, the councilor is being subjected to a media exposure , which has caused the risk of suffering some type of aggression, whether physical or verbal, to be high ”.

The socialists denounced that in the follow-up of the social networks to which they allude “they collect tweets from PSOE councilors who express a political opinion and use them to consider them a threat”, pointing out the possibility that this use ends up in court due to political persecution. .
