The festival will take place from October 1 to 16, in two main stages: the Guiniguada Theater (Gran Canaria) and the La Granja Space (Tenerife), with concerts and training actions also at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias (CSMC). Organized by the management of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands, it was created with the aim of giving visibility to those compositions and less frequent trends in the usual circuits.
Vocal KEA, who will perform on October 1 and 2, at 8:00 p.m., at Guiniguada and La Granja, respectively. It is one of the benchmark chamber choirs in the state choral scene, specialized in the less frequented choral repertoire of the 20th and 21st centuries, with a special sensitivity towards Basque authors. The second of the groups, Ensemble mosaik, a renowned ensemble created in 1997, will perform on October 2 in Gran Canaria (8:00 p.m.) and the following day in Tenerife (7:00 p.m.). It is a particularly versatile formation, whose members stand out for their instrumental skills and creative individuality. They collaborate with young composers, integrate digital media and focus on current trends. Since 2020 its director is the Norwegian Magnus Loddgard, a musician with a versatile career as a conductor, pianist, arranger and composer.
The event takes place in Gran Canaria and Tenerife with six formations
Four other trainings make up the program of this pfirst edition: Ensemble del CSMC, Resilience, DifrAcción and Arditti, Most of them include in their repertoire the interpretation of some work by Canarian composers. Specifically, nine pieces by island authors, of which seven are premieres, one of them specifically commissioned for this edition from the Canarian Rubens Askenar. The other Canary Islands premiere works correspond to the composers Wilfredo Angulo, Gustavo Díaz Jerez, Leandro Martín, Gonzalo Díaz Yerro and Sergio Rodríguez.
To these are also added those created prior to this festival by Gustavo Trujillo and Gonzalo Díaz.
