The Domingo Pérez Minik Cultural Observatory, as every year at this time, commemorates the birth of the writer with an activity around his figure and work. On this occasion, celebrate the meeting What remains of thought when criticism is silent?this Wednesday, May 28, at 18.30, in the CajaCanarias Cultural Space of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It is an act open to the general public, with free admission.
It is an evening dedicated to art, memory and thought that will gather voices of different generations and areas of culture. They will share their reflections on the challenges of creation in the Canary Islands, the influence of historical projects such as Art Gazette and the learnings that inspire today.
Fernando Alamo, Visual Artist and Canary Islands of Fine Arts, belonging to the generation of the 70s; Carlos Alayón, researcher at the Complutense University of Madrid and doctorate of the thesis After the steps of Domingo Pérez Minik, study of his figure from his epistolary and hemerographic background; Nayra Bajo de Vera, journalist and writer, and Vicky Pérez, cultural manager and director of the Marvick Gallery. They will share this debate with the moderation of Javier Hernández Velázquez, writer of generation 21 of current Canarian narrative, commissioner and promoter of the Tenerife Noir Atlantic Festival.
The colloquium will be preceded by the free reading of texts by Domingo Pérez Minik, by participants and attending the appointment. The act will end with music, with the Piano of Piano de Liszt works, by Paula Hiraldo Padilla.
With this event, the Observatory intends to perpetuate the figure and influence of Pérez Minik (May 24, 1903-24 of August 1989) on the 122th anniversary of its birth, through a space to reflect on the role of culture in difficult times, the influences that survive and the bridges between the past and present.
Visit to Fernando Álamo’s work
On the occasion of his visit to Santa Cruz to participate in that act, the artist Fernando Alamo will offer a commented visit to the work of his authorship that houses the headquarters of the Presidency of the Canary Islands Government in the capital of Tenerife. It will be the same day, at 12.00, and also with free admission, although it will be necessary to register previously in the form housed in the social networks of the Observatory.
