Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 5 Feb. (Europa Press) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife has authorised the tender for the development of eight road enhancement and conditioning initiatives, with an investment of 1.2 million euros aimed at improving safety for both vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

This was announced by the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, who was accompanied by the island’s vice president, Lope Afonso, at the press briefing held on Wednesday to report on the decisions made by the Governing Council.

Rosa Dávila noted that after a 2024 characterised by the implementation of works across more than 400 kilometres of roads on the island, 2025 commences with a series of strategic projects intended to reinforce the modernisation of the island’s road network.

“For this budget year, we have around 100 million euros earmarked specifically for road initiatives, representing a 4% increase over the previous year,” she stated.

Furthermore, she highlighted that just in January 2025, the Cabildo allocated 6 million euros for the improvement of the island’s roads, including various interventions focused on the rehabilitation of surfaces, road safety, and modernisation of essential infrastructure.

The interventions approved by the Governing Council encompass the TF-272 between Barranco Grande and La Esperanza, the TF-82 connecting Santiago del Teide and Tamaimo, the TF-42 in Buenavista del Norte, the TF-64 in Granadilla de Abona, the TF-134 in the Roque area of Las Bodegas in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the old TF-13 over the Agua de Dios Barranco in La Laguna, the pedestrian bridge on the TF-29 road, and the TF-265 as it traverses Llano del Moro.

In the realm of equality and diversity, the progress of the Insular Strategic Framework for Supporting LGBTIQA+ diversity was announced.

The aim is to establish a consensus document that elaborates on the LGBTIQA+ diversity policies that have been in place since 2018 by the island corporation, along with the roadmap to be followed by the Cabildo from 2025 to 2030 regarding LGBTIQA+ diversity policies.

Extension of Cultural Infrastructure Plan

Additionally, the vice president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Lope Afonso, announced the extension of the validity of the Insular Plan for Cultural Infrastructure (2016-2027), which “will ensure the continuation of ongoing projects and promote the integration of new strategic actions.”

Likewise, in the cultural sector, the adjustment of annual budgets and the extension of execution and justification deadlines for the Municipal Library and Municipal Archive of Arafo, within the Cultural Infrastructure Plan 2016-2027, has been sanctioned.

The total budget for the project amounts to 2,384,302 euros, with the extended deadlines stretching to September 10, 2026, for execution, and justification until November 10, 2026.

Moreover, urban modification is necessary for the site to reclassify the community-cultural residential land.

Within the primary sector, the Governing Council allocated 40,000 euros for the construction of an auxiliary irrigation reservoir on the Farm Farm estate, thereby supporting the continuity of the experimental coffee and avocado cultivation project.
