Santa Cruz de Tenerife 30 Jan. (Europa Press) –
The Secretary of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, stated on Thursday that his party is working in Arona (Tenerife) to secure a sufficient majority against Vox’s entry into a minority government alongside PP and CC.
He clarified that the alternative to this government is “to achieve a sufficient majority,” which is their current focus. However, he mentioned that “we must clarify” that they are not in favour of ending the fight against gender-based violence, along with other concerns he raised during an interview shared by Europa Press.
He also posed a question regarding what the Canarian coalition will do, which is part of that minority government in Arona. The PSOE had previously claimed it held an absolute majority but, following a series of difficulties, expressed regret that “the group split into two,” a situation he acknowledged “should never have occurred.”
In any case, the new government in Arona formed by PP, Vox, and CC needs to have a significant influence, particularly in a government where Vox is involved.
Lastly, the Minister for Territorial Policy recognised that Arona is a “highly significant” municipality with a “clear” impact on tourism, thus emphasising the necessity to “pursue stability.”
