more demands
These improvements are joined by three actions, highly demanded by the public, such as the reform of the Los Cristianos Security Office (about to start), the installation of security cameras in Las Verónicas and the forthcoming tender for the El Fraile, in addition to the start-up of the service in the Security Office of the latter location. All this is completed with the drafting of the project for the new police station, which will be located in Cho–Parque de la Reina.
These improvements are part of a progressive strategy marked by the Security Area since the beginning of the mandate. A clear roadmap that aims to fulfill the commitment to reinforce the security of the municipality of Arona.
“Improving the security of the residents of Arona was one of the key commitments of this government group,” says José Julián Mena. The mayor assures that “strengthening security measures has been one of the pillars of the mandate”, and lists “this historic incorporation” of agents and managers to the Local Police, the remodeling of the Los Cristianos Security Office, “some works whose start is expected shortly”, or the achievement of the installation of security cameras. In this area, he explains that installations are expected to start at Las Verónicas “in the summer”, while those at El Fraile are in the preparation phase for the tender. “We are taking the steps towards the police that Arona needs and deserves as the capital of the South.”
Francisco Marichal, Councilor for Security, maintains that the objective is to provide the Local Police with the average number of troops established for a population of more than 100,000 inhabitants. “In this legislature 31 agents have been incorporated, raising the workforce to 140 active members in the body, a commitment by this City Council to expand the security of all our neighbors,” concluded the mayor.
