The Tenerife Tram service facilitated the transportation of a total of 771,660 passengers throughout the recent Christmas period, spanning from December 24 to January 5 of the current year, as reported by Metrotenerife on Friday.
Analysis of the demand indicates that on the key dates of Christmas, specifically December 24, 25, and 31, as well as January 5, there were over 167,600 journeys made, reflecting an 8% increase in passenger numbers compared to the previous year, 2023.
Metrotenerife implemented a special operational plan that included enhancements in frequencies and timetables, with the provision of double trams throughout the entire day of Three Kings’ Eve, akin to arrangements made in prior years.
Notably, during the week from December 30 to January 5, over 407,000 individuals used the service, with January 3 witnessing the highest demand, accommodating just over 75,160 passengers.
Moreover, 27.2% of the journeys made during the final week of Christmas were attributed to the ten+ mobile application, marking an increase of 2.4 percentage points compared to the same timeframe in the previous year, while complimentary subscriptions accounted for 81.8% of the total.
