SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 23 December (EUROPA PRESS) –

The General Corps of the Canarian Police, via the Environmental Protection and Cultural Heritage Group of the Administrative Surveillance and Inspection Unit (UVIA), in conjunction with Environmental agents from the Cabildo of Tenerife, lodged a total of 12 complaints last Friday for unauthorised camping in the Site of Scientific Interest ‘La Caleta’, located within the municipality of Adeje, which is regarded as a Protected Natural Area.

Additionally, one complaint was made for conducting shellfish fishing without the required licence and during a temporary closure period.

These initiatives are vital for the conservation of protected natural areas, and it is imperative that environmental regulations are adhered to in order to safeguard biodiversity and maintain the ecological equilibrium of these regions.

The cooperation between various units and specialised agents facilitates effective management and enhances awareness of the significance of adhering to environmental protection legislation, as detailed by the Canarian Police in a statement.

The Administrative Surveillance and Inspection Unit has among its responsibilities preventive police actions, investigations, and reporting of administrative infractions in several areas, including but not limited to, the environment and natural resources, tourism management in the Canary Islands, Canarian cultural heritage, Tax Administration, transportation, gaming and betting, as well as other tasks assigned to it, in accordance with the Resolution dated 16 January 2024, from the General Directorate of Security.
