SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, announced on Wednesday that the regulation for hiking to the summit of Teide will take effect next Friday, allowing a total of 300 individuals per day, divided into three time slots: from 09:00 to 16:00; from 16:00 to midnight; and from midnight to 09:00.

During a press conference detailing the decisions of the Government Council, alongside vice president Lope Afonso, she explained that support staff from the national park will be available around the clock, every day of the year, and that all hikers must register via the ‘Tenerife ON’ app.

Companies involved in active tourism and registered mountaineers will receive preferential treatment, with 20% of the total positions reserved for them. Those failing to adhere to the regulations will incur a fine of 600 euros and will be responsible for the expenses associated with any potential rescue, which could range from 2,000 to 12,000 euros.

(An extension is forthcoming)
