SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, June 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The head of the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) list for the Santa Cruz de Tenerife constituency, Cristina Valido, stated this Monday that “more than ever it is time to think about the Canary Islands so that it is decisive in the future Government of Spain.”
In statements to journalists after registering his candidacy with the Central Electoral Board, he has made a “special appeal” to those who do not vote for CC because “they have to think about the Canary Islands and reflect on what these islands need and are interested in, what concerns its inhabitants and what needs they have, what is systematically breached and what claims must be insisted on”.
The nationalist candidate highlighted the “luck of being accompanied by Guadalupe González Taño, a woman with a lot of experience, also in Congress, in management work on the island of La Palma, whose role will be fundamental in this new legislature so that the the commitments for La Palma, those to which the Government of Spain made a commitment and which it has not complied with, abandoning the palm trees and palm trees”.
In addition, he defended the importance of having his own voice also in the Senate with the candidates for Tenerife, Jonathan Domínguez and Gladis de León.
“You have to be aware that if we get a strong Canarian group, they will have to negotiate with us and then, we are convinced, things will change. The future is in the hands of the Canaries on July 23,” he concluded.
After Valido and González Taño, on the list for Congress are Alfonso Cabello (3), Víctor Chinea (4), Dulce Gutiérrez (5), Felipe David Benítez (6) and Ana Oramas (7) and as substitutes will be Patricia León, Gerardo Vera, Jesus Acevedo and Yurena Luis.
As for the Senate, Lot García, María Belén Rodríguez, Diana Mora and Narciso Pérez will act as substitutes.
THEY DEMAND 100 MILLION FOR LA PALM
González Taño assured for his part that “La Palma has experienced the worst catastrophe in Spain in recent times” and for this reason they are going to “demand that 60% of the personal income tax be maintained and that the 100 million euros that are contemplated be paid now in the General State Budget, as well as the 1.5 million euros for the Mental Health Plan, because the situation is worrying, there are many people on the limit”.
“We are going to fight for an island that needs the support of the institutions because we have not yet recovered,” he said at the same time that he regretted that the still president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, “affirms that the volcano has been one of the challenges of this legislature, but it has not done anything to comply with the commitment it made to the people affected”.
In his opinion, “we cannot use the volcano as justification, but rather as an incentive to keep our promises.”
“We will be there and we will fight for a fairer Canary Islands and for an island of La Palma with our commitments fulfilled”, reiterated Guadalupe González Taño.
For his part, the candidate for the Senate for the island of Tenerife, Jonathan Domínguez, assured that they will contribute “the Canarian force in Madrid”.
“Having a group is a great opportunity for this land and in my case, from the island of Tenerife, being able to have a senator in the upper house will mean working side by side with the municipalities of the island so that they are represented through an ally , through someone who will always work for them,” he said.
Gladis de León insisted that they have to “be in Madrid subject, only, to the discipline that each and every one of the islands marks.”
