SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE Nov. 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Personnel from the Tenerife Fire Consortium responded this Wednesday to 10 incidents linked to the strong winds experienced across various regions of the island from 2:00 p.m.

The primary actions were centred in the municipality of La Orotava, where efforts were directed towards reactivating a fire at the hardware store on La Arveja road.

The alert was raised by the Tenerife Fire Emergency Coordination Centre at 112 around 10:30 p.m., prompting a team to attend to the scene to extinguish the blaze, which was successfully completed by 11:30 p.m.

Additionally, several firefighters were required to address various incidents, such as the collapse of a pergola at the local bus station, the removal of a sign on Nelson Mandela Avenue, a fallen tree on Emilio Luque Street, and a palm tree that had obstructed the entrance to a residence on Trébol Street in Puerto de la Cruz.

In addressing the incidents reported in La Orotava, collaboration was made with Civil Protection agents from the same municipality.

Conversely, members from the Santa Cruz park engaged in extinguishing a fire affecting a palm tree on Príncipes de España Avenue, while in La Laguna, a team responded to a stubble fire ignited near a home on Alfredo Hernandez Canino Road.

In Adeje, firefighters from the San Miguel park managed another stubble fire on Los Acantilados Avenue, with the assistance of local volunteers, while team members from the Guía de Isora park dealt with the clearance of another sign that had fallen on the roadway at the Playa Paraíso roundabout.

Similarly, members from the Guía de Isora park were mobilised around 2:30 p.m. following a call from the Tenerife Fire Emergency Coordination Centre at 112, to respond to a short circuit incident involving a high-voltage tower in a greenhouse within the municipality, near Cueva del Polvo.

Upon arrival at the site, it was identified that a fire had affected an area of 500 metres dedicated to banana cultivation, involving a side section of the greenhouse fabric, the base of the electrical tower, as well as the irrigation system.

Consequently, the fire was extinguished and, after completion, cooling operations were performed to prevent re-ignition; volunteers from Guía de Isora and the Local Police also provided assistance.
