Christmas lights and nativity scenes

The CajaCanarias Foundation has already inaugurated its traditional portal of Bethlehem in the Cultural Space of Santa Cruz of Tenerife (Plaza del Patriotismo, 1), as well as the innovative cardboard assembly that is exhibited annually in the Cultural Space located in Garachico. The two will be open to the public until next January 5, for free.

The visiting hours for the general public, regarding the nativity scene located in the CajaCanarias Cultural Space of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, is established in two periods: from December 3 to 22 (both days inclusive) it will be open, from Monday to Friday, between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., while on Saturdays and Sundays, in addition, in the hours from 11:00 to 13:30, in addition to December 6, 7 and 8, on the occasion of the Constitution Bridge. From December 23 to January 5, for its part, the Portal will open its doors, from Monday to Sunday, in the morning and in the evening (11: 00-13: 30 and 17: 30-20: 00 hours), except for December 24 and 31, as well as January 5, the opening being limited to the morning slot.

With respect to planned schedule to visit the assembly designed for the CajaCanarias de Garachico Cultural Space, this is established from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 17:00, from Monday to Saturday, in general, while on Sundays and holidays it will be closed.

Candelaria: Christmas has also come to this municipality with the Lighting of lights and the inauguration of the nativity scene outside the Cultural Center of La Villa. The Municipal Nativity Scene located in the Plaza del Centro Cultural de la Villa will be open 24 hours a day and can be visited until February 2. Every day at dusk, Candelaria lights up Christmas, illuminating every corner of the town, this 2021 with a colorful decoration, which adds to the decoration of the gardens and urban elements with poinsettias.

The lagoon: A total of 2,800 ornamental elements already illuminate the different neighborhoods and towns of the municipality to safeguard the typical magic of the festivities in these times of pandemic. Among the novelties this year are “the words of optimism” placed in Obispo Rey Redondo street, the eight-meter ball installed in the Plaza de La Catedral and the interactive tree in Plaza del Cristo.

Santa Cruz of Tenerife: The capital of Tenerife has spent 353,919.31 euros in the contracting of the 3.5 million led bulbs that will be used in the 29 kilometers to brighten up 162 streets and squares of Santa Cruz. Although the Christmas decorations are spread over the different streets of the municipality, these are the most recommended areas to walk these days:

  • Prince Square. It is the chicharrera candy box, both for the decoration that is placed from the temple to the perimeter of the secluded space and if the neighbor enters the tunnel of light that will be installed again outside.
  • Puerta Canseco Square. The garlands placed on the trees stand out; It is a traditional decoration but it is the first time it has been installed there.
  • Las Ramblas. There are cones of light that will oscillate between eight and two meters.
  • Plazoleta of the Dominican Republic. A giant Christmas tree has been installed.
