SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 11 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo of Tenerife, through the Roads department, will alter traffic in the vicinity of the Padre Anchieta roundabout due to the installation of falsework and the sixth module of the walkway that forms part of the Great Insular Ring of Padre Anchieta.
This operation will necessitate the closure of both lanes of the specified roundabout, meaning that access from the TF-5 to the TF-24 motorway (heading towards La Esperanza); Astrofísico Francisco Sánchez street and Avenida de La Trinidad will be restricted. The traffic alterations will occur from Monday, 14 October to Thursday, 17 October.
In light of these closures, the following diversions will be instituted: access from TF-5 to TF-24 and Astrofísico Francisco Sánchez street via Lora and Tamayo-Mayber street-Camino San Miguel de Geneto-Domingo González Pérez street-TF-265 or The Coromoto. The closures will take place overnight from 8:30 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
The Tenerife Cabildo urges motorists to exercise extreme caution when travelling through the area during the construction works and to remain vigilant at all times, adhering to the signs and instructions provided by the Roads department personnel.
The project for the Great Pedestrian Ring of Padre Anchieta involves 11 metal units, each weighing 40 tons, representing an investment of 8.8 million euros. The work, executed by Obras Huarte Lain SA, comprises a continuous curved ring-shaped beam measuring approximately 100 meters in diameter, supported by a system of specialised supports, alongside a plaza connected to the current parking facility of the Faculty of Biology at the University of La Laguna. Upon completion, the eight pedestrian crossings, utilised by over 20,000 individuals daily, can be replaced, significantly enhancing safety conditions and improving traffic flow.
The design of the Great Pedestrian Ring is a notable achievement in this category of infrastructure, having received the 2019 National Innovation and Design Awards from the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of Spain.
