SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

On Wednesday, the Civil Guard unveiled the ‘VI Civil Guard Cyber League’ in its pre-amateur format aimed at final-year Secondary School students, marking its inaugural occurrence in the archipelago.

The launch event was held at the Óscar Domínguez IES in Tacoronte, in front of over 600 students, who participated electronically alongside their peers from various other schools: IES Antonio González González (Tejina), IES Granadilla de Abona, IES Cruz Santa (Los Realejos), IES Tegueste, IES Villalba Herbás (La Orotava), IES Eusebio Barreto Lorenzo (La Palma), IES Puerto Cabras Rafael Báez (Fuerteventura), CEO Valleseco (Gran Canaria), IES Vega de San Mateo (Gran Canaria), IES Eusebio Barreto Lorenzo (Gran Canaria) and IES Villa de Firgas.

This presentation was graced by the General Chief of the Civil Guard Zone of the Canary Islands, the Subdelegate of the Government of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the General Director of Teaching Planning from the Department of Education of the Canary Islands Government, among other civil officials.

The primary aim of this ‘VI Cyber League’ is to foster awareness among younger students regarding the safe and responsible utilisation of new technologies through competitive engagement.

Contestants will encounter a series of cyber challenges, designed to replicate realistic scenarios they might face while browsing the Internet.

To tackle these challenges, participants will need to employ their digital research skills, collaborating as a team and applying the lessons learned, particularly from the training session held prior to the competition, conducted by specialised Civil Guard agents.
